Vucic: I accepted the European proposal; Pristina did not
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said that at today's round of dialogue, he had accepted the European proposal for overcoming the situation that had arisen after, as he emphasized, the shameful elections in the north of Kosovo, and added that Pristina had not wanted to accept it.
"I accepted, and Pristina refused. I think it is very important to overcome that situation," Vucic said in a statement to journalists.
He expressed the hope that in the next round, there would be reactions from others who could influence the change of such attitudes.
He emphasized that he was not an optimist, but that he could promise that Serbia would do everything to preserve peace and stability.
"We will face a difficult situation in the days ahead. By May 28, those who received 3 percent of the votes, and only 13 people voted from the Serbian population, should enter the premises. That means someone should break into offices, and take down flags. Do you know what kind of risk it is and how many problems it brings? The EU is aware of that, so it offered a solution. I accepted what they proposed, Pristina did not," he stressed.
He pointed out that the third topic of the meeting had been everything that happened after the elections, and how to keep the situation under control.
"I just hope that there will be enough common sense, and I want to believe that the kind of provocations we had before the elections will not continue, with the wounding and mistreatment of the Serbs just because they are the Serbs and stories about how they love the Serbs, but only the obedient ones," he underlined.
When asked by an Albanian journalist about what Serbia had accepted, Vucic replied that it had already accepted a lot on the way to finding a real compromise solution with the Albanians.
He pointed out that all that, had not been enough and asked what else Albanians expected from Serbia.
He emphasized that these were serious matters that required a responsible approach and that the lowest common denominator should be found, and that was what had been signed.
He said that the positive thing was to keep talking.
He also pointed out that it was positive that the Declaration on the Missing Persons had been adopted.
He pointed out that it was important to resolve the fate of all the missing persons and that meant the Serbs as well.
"We are ready if you tell us where you suspect the remains of Albanians are stored within 24 hours to dig there together. But we ask the same from you," he said, saying that it was a fair approach.
He pointed out that the Declaration was a text from a month and a half ago.
