Vucic: Kurti to meet Macron tomorrow, will request NATO withdrawal from ground safety zone and deployment of KSF to the north
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti will travel tomorrow for talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, bringing two requests: that France condition Serbia not to use the weapons it acquires against Albanians, and that it support a proposal for NATO to withdraw from the Ground Safety Zone in the north and allow the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) to be deployed there.
Speaking to TV Prva, Vucic said he had obtained Kurti’s agenda for the meeting with the French president, adding that he does not understand the purpose of such a meeting for Macron, although he acknowledged that Macron is the leader of a major country.
“Kurti will go with two requests. There are four topics, but two demands. One is that the French impose conditions on us regarding how we use our weapons, namely that they must never be used against Albanians. The second is very dangerous – that NATO withdraw from the Ground Safety Zone in the north, that France support this, and that they could then bring the so-called KSF into the Ground Safety Zone. I hope that no one in NATO is even considering this. I am certain that it will not occur to Macron to support such a request, as it would constitute a direct attack on peace, on our population, and on Serbia as a whole. I believe, I am almost certain, that this will not happen,” Vucic said.
He added that while he does not know Macron’s agenda, he is aware of Kurti’s, emphasizing that he will not conceal such information and will always be informed, as Serbia has sources within Kurti’s circle, though Pristina will not know how he obtained it.
In that context, he pointed out that the state “is not a toy” but must maintain a strong military to deter any potential aggressor.
“You must be responsible and serious, and not engage in such matters unless it is the last resort. You must preserve peace. I promised citizens, especially mothers, that no one would return their children in coffins. And I will uphold that,” the Serbian president stated.
He called on all international officials “not to play with Kurti’s demands.”
“They should not play with this and should allow KFOR to continue its role. We are satisfied with KFOR’s role, we have good relations, and we will continue to foster them. This is of utmost importance for preserving peace and stability in the Balkans,” Vucic emphasized.
He added that he would call Macron after the meeting.
Asked whether Kurti had independently decided to make such a request now or whether “someone suggested it to him,” Vucic noted that this demand from Pristina “is not new.”
When it was pointed out that such a move would be contrary to UN Security Council Resolution 1244, Vucic responded that everything being done is contrary to that document.
“The independence of Kosovo, as well as any armed formations they possess, are contrary to it. Especially given that they openly state—despite it being clearly written in Resolution 1244, which, although it has some problematic provisions, also contains protective clauses for Serbia—that the KSF are successors and followers of the KLA. Everything is contrary to Resolution 1244. And who cares? Who in the international community cares that the Brussels Agreement has not been implemented, except us? About everything they have done and lied about? No one, because they are still physically stronger than a small country that is, in many respects, an island of freedom. And I am proud that it is so,” Vucic said.
Military Alliance of Albania, Croatia, and Pristina Formed on Orders of One Country
Vucic stated that a military alliance between Albania, Croatia, and Pristina was formed on the orders of a single country, without specifying which country.
“On the day that military alliance was formed, I knew what was being prepared, and they cannot deceive me. They spoke of military-technical and military-to-military cooperation, but they formed a military alliance. Zagreb would never have agreed to that without orders from one country,” Vucic emphasized.
He said this was a signal for him and that since then he has been working intensively on Serbia’s security.
“They know we will not attack anyone. But I know that the moment they see an opportunity, they will launch an attack on Serbia. Do not be under any illusion that I am wrong,” Vucic warned.
In the World, Power and Irresponsibility Prevail Over Law
Speaking about the geopolitical situation, Vucic said that irresponsibility and power, not law, dominate global affairs.
Referring to his recent visit to the United Arab Emirates, he said he went to express solidarity with a personal friend and a friend of the Serbian people.
He recalled that the UAE president had helped Serbia during a difficult moment at the United Nations, during the vote on the Srebrenica resolution, not only with his vote but also through influence on other countries.
“Our duty is at least to express solidarity,” Vucic stressed.
He added that the situation in the Emirates is largely calm due to their effective air defense systems, noting that his aircraft had been escorted by fighter jets due to potential drone threats.
“They have invested billions in so-called electronic jamming systems. But the Iranians are successful in producing Shahed drones. They have certain elements that allow them to bypass such jamming and reach their targets. It is a cheap machine, yet it finds its way to the target,” Vucic explained.
He noted that he had seen reports that the United States had carried out the most intense strikes on Tehran and Iran.
“I feel sorry for the people who are suffering. This is a world where irresponsibility and force prevail, not law,” he said.
Vucic added that, according to Israeli projections, the war could end around April 9, though he is not certain.
“Iranians are a brave people, one of the most educated and literate nations, with great dignity. They are Shiites, and their sense of dignity, defense, personal integrity, and religious freedom is even more pronounced. But Israel and the United States possess far more sophisticated weaponry. Israel is a superpower in terms of arms and equipment, and the Americans are like an elephant in the savannah—the biggest and strongest—whatever they strike is extremely painful and devastating,” Vucic explained.
He said the war is taking many lives and expressed hope it would end as soon as possible.
First Robots in Serbia to Be Produced on Vidovdan
Vucic expressed his expectation that the first robots will be produced in Serbia by Vidovdan.
“Some opponents criticized me, but here is exclusive news—I expect that the first robots produced on the territory of Serbia will be ready by Vidovdan, in three months. They will be produced in Serbia and will bear the label ‘Made in Serbia.’ At Expo, you will be flying in flying cars,” Vucic stated.
