Vucic with Lavrov: Serbia committed to preserving peace, stability and respect for international law

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to discuss bilateral relations, strengthening economic cooperation, geopolitical developments around the world, as well as the importance and role of the United Nations in a complex global environment.

Vucic wrote on Instagram that his discussion with Lavrov had been open and substantive and that he had reiterated Serbia’s principled position, stressing that the country remained committed to preserving peace and stability and respecting international law as the only path toward overcoming challenges.

“An open and substantive discussion with Minister Sergey Lavrov on energy security in the context of the broader global crisis in this sector, during which I expressed hope that we will sign a new gas supply agreement with the Russian Federation by the end of September. I emphasized Serbia’s principled position, which remains committed to preserving peace and stability and respecting international law as the only path toward overcoming challenges,” Vucic said.
