President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, emphasized that Serbia is facing significant pressure from all sides, and highlighted that at one of the Brussels forums, the EU envoy for the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, Miroslav Lajcak, mentioned that neither side is willing to accept a compromise, although Priština has abolished the dinar in Kosovo.

"It's as if you hit me and then say that neither side is ready to accept a compromise," Vucic told the media after meetings at the UN regarding the resolution on Srebrenica.

He stressed that the Serbian delegation is fighting for their country in New York and added that Serbia holds respect in the Asia-Pacific front, with whose representatives he spoke today.

He announced other meetings and assessed that due to geopolitical circumstances, many countries will reconsider their positions.

"We are a small country, and the pressures are strong. I think we have done a great job and fought for our people," Vucic declared.

He stated that the Serbian delegation would continue its fight although it is very difficult.

"We are too small for the major Western powers, but opposition and the fact that you cannot always defeat the truth with force means something to us," he said.

The resolution on Srebrenica has become the main topic at the UN

Regarding the resolution on Srebrenica, Vucic is not optimistic, but that does not justify not continuing the fight.

"What you protect and defend and have sworn to your citizens and people is sacred. For us, that is the most important thing in life, not the fear of the force and power of those who are much bigger and stronger. But have we discussed and explained the situation to everyone? I must tell you that there is huge reservation in all groups regarding the procedure and process as some have defined this resolution," he stated.

He added that some representatives of Islamic countries vote reluctantly because they know they are hurting friends.

He judged that the Serbian delegation in meetings with world delegations has done a lot to elevate Serbia's reputation to a higher level.

Vucic says that during his visit to New York, he had numerous bilateral meetings and that he would attend a dinner with many European leaders. As he adds, he will take the opportunity to ask them not to be against Serbia.

"We now have a meeting with [António] Guterres, with Denis Francis, who is the president of the United Nations General Assembly, with the UN's special adviser on the issue of genocide, with representatives from Mexico," Vucic noted.

He pointed out that "a lot is happening" in New York, and that the Serbian delegation, not counting the reception organized at the UN Mission, talked with representatives from more than 80 countries, and the resolution has become "the main topic at the UN."

"We heard that a similar performance is being prepared, similar to the one Kosovo organized with the Security Council. Mothers of victims in Srebrenica were invited; it's common folklore, nothing unexpected," Vucic assessed.

A large number of countries will be abstinent in voting on the resolution

The President of Serbia expressed confidence that the citizens of Serbia, understanding the difficulty of the country's position, will definitely be genuinely proud of Serbia.

"Our fight and the love we have shown all together, although someone wants to punish us for something that happened 29 years ago, all because they cannot explain the silence and incapacity on another issue," President Vucic emphasized.

He noted that many countries at the UN understand this, as there are a large number who will, despite all pressures, be abstinent.

"And, you can imagine what my invitation means compared to the invitation from the USA, Germany, France, England, Canada, Australia, Turkey, Italy, and others… Clearly, it is a David and Goliath battle. But, can you tell me anyone honorable in the world who would read about it and be on the side of Goliath?" Vucic asked.

He stated that Serbia not only has the sympathy of numerous countries, which will contribute to further development of bilateral relations with them, but already has quite an understanding from countries that cannot understand why such a resolution is being adopted now, without the consensus of the people in Bosnia and Herzegovina and without consultations at the regional level.

He repeated that he learned about the resolution from the German ambassador at a time when it had already been worked on for six months.

"You did this, without informing the key regional partner.. What inclusiveness are we talking about?" President Vucic asked.

He also said that Serbia is respected and esteemed among Latin American, African, and Asian countries.

"Some will indeed vote for the resolution, but they are nearly in tears because they have to vote that way, because they belong to that faith, but they know how unfair it is towards Serbia. Many will, however, abstain," he added.

He also reminded that the decision of the UN General Assembly is not binding, but it is a significant moral disqualification.

"We continue to fight, today is a tough day. We will also have a headquarters with Belgrade, Ana Brnabic and Ivica Dacic will join in, to see where we stand... We have sent envoys all over the world, from Cambodia to Panama, carrying my letter and talking with the hosts. That's what we can do, nothing more," Vucic said, adding that representatives of some countries have remarked that "it's incredible that small Serbia has managed to stand up like this, that it's all the UN talks about, while on the other side are all the world's most powerful nations."

He expressed hope at the end that he will have the opportunity to speak with the permanent representative of the USA to the UN.

"This is also important because of Kosovo. Moreover, he is a member of Biden's inner circle, a team that decides on everything, and it's important that we have the best possible contacts and relations," Vucic stated.
