Vucic with Serbian children from Slovenia: May your peers in Kosovo and Metohija also have peace

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic hosted Serbian children from Slovenia today and said that Serbia would do its best so that their peers in Kosovo and Metohija have peace, so they study in schools like children in Slovenia and think about the future like all other children.

Vucic said that an incredible number of people who still defend the colors of Slovenia and love their Serbian people wished Merry Christmas, and regardless of whether they came from Zvornik or Kosovo and Metohija, they went to Slovenia - they were never ashamed of the Serbian name and last name.

He also reminded that the famous children's poet Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj always reminded that Christ was also a child first, quoting his verses: "There is golden straw on the floor, there is a tangle of children on it, a blessing for us, a blessing for you when the young world grow up."

"It is important for me that, in difficult times for humanity and Europe, I invite all of Serbia to a Christmas and spiritual gathering," the President of Serbia emphasized.

He added that today and tomorrow he would pray for the peace, life, and survival of our people.

"We will do our best so that your peers, our children in Kosovo and Metohija, have peace, to study in schools like you, and think about their future as you do. I believe it is important to ask you to preserve your language, the Serbian Cyrillic alphabet, to take care of your people in Slovenia, and in Serbia, Srpska, Montenegro, Kosovo and Metohija, and in every other place," Vucic added.

He also said that many would return to Serbia, and some would represent our people in Slovenia or other countries.

"I want you to spend Christmas in peace and harmony," the president said to them.

He thanked everyone, from the head of the Administration for Serbs in the region and diaspora to teachers and parents. They are fighting to preserve the Serbian name outside the borders of our country, as he says, where there are many of our people, which is why it becomes a big and important job for all of us.

"I wish Merry Christmas to the patriarch, all believers, and the entire Serbian people on this day. I hope and pray that tomorrow's Christmas brings peace and prosperity, that the Serbs for once in their history avoid suffering that they could not avoid in past wars, to save our country and children, to build a peaceful future," Vucic said.
Today, on Christmas Eve, Vucic organized a reception for children of Serbian nationality from Slovenia, who were visiting Belgrade on the occasion of the Christmas holidays, in the Presidency building on Andricev Venac, and gave them Christmas gifts.

Agnija Limopoljac, the girl who spoke on behalf of the Serbian children from Slovenia, said that it was a great honor for all of them to be in Belgrade with the President of Serbia on Christmas Eve because that way they learn about the traditions of the Serbian people from the very source.

"We like to learn the Serbian language, the Cyrillic alphabet, and history, and that is why we are regular students of the supplementary Serbian language school in Slovenia and active members of the Serbian community in Kranj, Maribor, Ljubljana, Velenje, Celje, Kopar," Limopoljac said.

On behalf of all the students and teachers of the Serbian school, she thanked President Vucic for his hospitality, presented him with a portrait with Serbian motifs, and invited him to be their guest in Slovenia, where he is always welcome.

The reception was also attended by the Director of the Administration for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Arnaud Gouillon, and MP Sanja Lakic.

Serbian children from Slovenia were hosted yesterday by the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church Porfirije in the Church of St. Sava.
