Vucic talked to Blinken: We agreed on the need for de-escalation and a greater role of KFOR
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic conveyed today to journalists that he had had a conversation with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during which they had agreed on the need for de-escalation in Kosovo but not regarding the action of the Kosovo Police in northern Kosovo.
"I had a long telephone conversation, not an easy one, with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken about the situation in Kosovo. There are a few things we agreed on and a few we did not," he explained in a statement to journalists.
Vucic said they had agreed on the need for de-escalation and a significantly greater role of KFOR.
"Serbia will always support a greater role of KFOR. We would like it to be exclusive, especially in northern Kosovo," he added.
He stated that he had denied the falsehoods about the highest level of combat readiness of the Serbian Army, emphasizing that he had not signed anything like that.
"We do not have even half the forces we had two or three months ago. We did not agree on the nature of what happened in Kosovo, especially regarding the so-called Kosovo sovereignty; I emphasized that Serbia did not agree with that," he underscored.
When asked about the rumors of liquidation, Vucic said that out of respect for the families, he could not disclose details but that he was not interested in what anyone in the world thought about it, and Serbia had evidence that at least one, and possibly two, individuals had been cold-bloodedly liquidated.
"They were wounded and surrendered, and they were cold-bloodedly killed from a short distance. I did not agree that the action was perfectly and professionally executed. I also asked why EULEX had not been involved in the action," Vucic said.
He stated that the US Secretary talked about possible measures if Serbia did not behave appropriately.
"I replied that the United States was a great country and a superpower and could do as they wished, but I believed it was not a good idea. There are things we must stick to, and that is the truth," he emphasized.
