Aleksandar Vulin has submitted his resignation as the Director of the Security Intelligence Agency, N1 reports.

In his statement to the media, Vulin stated that the US and the EU are "demanding his head as a precondition for not imposing sanctions on Serbia".

"I am not the cause of threats and pressures on Serbia and the Serbian world, but I will not allow myself to be the reason for threats and pressures on Serbia and the Serbian world. That is why I am submitting an irrevocable resignation from the position of the Director of the Security Intelligence Agency," the statement reads.

Vulin added that the sanctions imposed on him were evidence of his persistent struggle for the unity of the Serbs.

"But the introduction of sanctions on Serbia, which my continued leadership of the Security Intelligence Agency would be used as a reason, would be proof of my selfishness", Vulin stated.

Vulin noted that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and Serbia itself were facing threats and pressures that could only be compared to the Austro-Hungarian ultimatum of 1914.

"We are being asked to recognize Kosovo, to abandon Republika Srpska, to stop being a sovereign country and nation by imposing sanctions on the Russian Federation. If we agreed to do this, the next demand would be the expulsion of Chinese investments, unconditional technological and economic dependence on the West, as well as the continued political and territorial disintegration of Serbia and the acceptance of Western values that leave no room for the traditional family, nation, and ultimately social justice", Vulin wrote.

As he said, the first indicator of the correctness of his decision would be the "hypocritical statements by officials from the US and the EU" in which they would swear that they had not even wanted to impose sanctions on Serbia.
