Luke Zahner, Senior Fellow in the National Security and International Policy Department at the Center for American Progress in Washington and a former US diplomat, told Kosovo Online that he does not believe it is a problem that the White House has not yet nominated an ambassador to Kosovo, because the US Embassy in Pristina is operating at full capacity and has a highly qualified chargé d'affaires.

Zahner expects that a candidate for ambassador to Kosovo will be nominated in the coming weeks or months.

“The embassy is operating at full capacity and is highly engaged on the ground. It currently has a very qualified chargé d'affaires. We may not see major breakthroughs pushed by the United States regarding Serbia and Kosovo or the region as a whole. But I do not think this will necessarily have a negative impact on bilateral relations in the immediate future,” the former US diplomat said.
