Zeqiri: More than 100 police officers resigned this year due to low salaries

Since the establishment of the Kosovo Police until today, more than 1,200 members have voluntarily resigned, and it is estimated that more than 100 police officers left this institution this year, head of the Kosovo Police Union Imer Zeqiri said, as reported by Reporteri.

Zeqiri cited low salaries as the reason for the resignations.

"This issue is worrying. In the Kosovo Police, we have voluntary resignations continually, not only now. This year alone, we have more than 100 police officers who voluntarily resigned, and mostly these resignations are due to low salaries and other conditions," the union president explained.

The Kosovo Police Union considers it very disturbing that police officers will receive an old-age pension after the age of 65.

Zeqiri noted that their priority was the early retirement of police officers at the age of 55, adding that the salaries of police officers were very low compared to other institutions.

"At the moment, the procurement of footwear has been done, but we still have a shortage of boots, shoes, and uniforms," Zeqiri said.
