Zulfaj: EU requested cancellation of mandates in the north

Jeton Zulfaj, the political advisor to the Prime Minister of Kosovo, stated that the European Union had requested the cancellation of mandates in the north, and for the newly elected presidents not to take the oath. He emphasized that the draft statute of the CSM was scandalous and completely unacceptable for Kosovo and that the government would not reform the management team for the formation of the Community, Koha reports.

Regarding the statement by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, about the elections and his proposal to the parties, Zulfaj says that proposals for changing the legal conditions defined by the Constitution and the law cannot be given, and such requests cannot be made.

"We have mayors elected in a legal process, and we condemn the Serb List's intentional boycott, which is evidently wrong. Their boycott of the election is the wrong decision that we cannot tolerate. They have all kinds of ideas and desires that we cannot comment on because they are not the wishes and processes of the Prime Minister but rather processes decided by different institutions in Kosovo," he said.

The political advisor to the Prime Minister says that the Management Team for drafting the CSM statute has completed all the tasks it had and that it was "dismantled" on Tuesday evening because the statute draft presented by the Serbian team, according to him, is scandalous and completely unacceptable for Kosovo.

"The team used the mandate it had with that controversial content and with leader Danijela Vujicic. That scandalous draft put an end to this team. The draft they announced is entirely unacceptable to us. This team existed, it has been dismantled, we no longer need this team," Zulfaj emphasized.

He stated that the Kosovo side would present its ideas at the next meeting.

"When we talk next time, we will have our ideas. It is not only our demand that the CSM not have executive powers; it is also the position of the EU and the US," Zulfaj emphasized.

According to Zulfaj, the Kosovo Government does not plan to form another management team for the CSM statute draft.

"There is no plan because no one needs that management team anymore. The team, as it was, presented its desire for Republika Srpska in Kosovo. We declared their statute draft unacceptable, and now we are in a new phase where we have the Prime Minister's vision," he said.
