Macedonian Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi told ATV that the information about the attempted assassination of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti can be treated as fake news, and speaking about the European integration of North Macedonia and Albania, he said that it has nothing to do with the issue of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

Xhaferi repeated that, as the prime minister, he has information according to which he cannot treat the news about the assassination attempt on Kurti as anything other than - false.

The fact that the news is false is also shown by the source of that information, which, he points out, is neither from the territory of Kosovo nor the territory of North Macedonia.

He states that the manner of communicating that information only caused damage to the relevant institution in Kosovo in the context of reliability for the exchange of information in the future.

Commenting on Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama's statement that "every attack on Kosovo is an attack on Albania", Xhaferi said that Albania has an obligation, according to the Constitution, to answer for Albanians outside its borders.

"Albania has an obligation to take care of Albanians outside the borders of the country. Therefore, it should be in that context, not only in the context of defense and the NATO Alliance. The context is a little wider," said Xhaferi.

He also says that the path of North Macedonia and Albania towards the European Union has nothing to do with the issue of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

"The unfinished business of those two countries could be an obstacle to this path. The question of our path, the path of Macedonia and Albania to the European Union, is not related to the question of obstacles in the relations between Kosovo and Serbia, but it is a question of our work, the homework that we have to do. The obstacle in our way is ourselves," Xhaferi said.

He pointed out that North Macedonia has obligations to make constitutional changes, while Albania's obligations are different.
