At the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education of the University of Pristina, with temporary headquarters in Leposavic, the new academic year officially began today with a ceremonial awarding of student record books to freshmen. This year, 75 first-year students have enrolled, and the number is expected to increase after the second enrollment round.

Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Ljubisa Lilic, emphasized the significance of such a large number of freshmen under the current circumstances in the region.

“As you could see today, it is a particular pleasure that 75 students have enrolled and come to start their first year of studies. We expect another enrollment period, where top athletes who were unable to register in the previous rounds have already announced their interest, and I hope there will be at least 10 more students. For our conditions here in Leposavic, and considering the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija, this is an exceptional number,” Dean Lilic stressed.

He added that the goal is for young people to continue their education, obtain the title of professor of sport and physical education, and remain in the region in the future.

“We work according to the plan and program as in previous years, so I hope we will not have any problems and that our country, together with the European Union and those responsible for education here in Kosovo and Metohija and the surrounding area, will find ways and conditions for us to continue working smoothly, so that these young people can continue their education, study, and one day become professors, which is what they are training for,” Lilic said.

Among the freshmen are young people from various parts of Serbia, as well as the region, all of whom see sport as their life’s profession and vocation.

Aleksa Avram, a first-year student from Novi Pazar, says sport is a way of life for him.

“I have played football my whole childhood, and I wanted to enroll in the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education so that I could dedicate my life to sports. I expect high-quality lectures, good friendships, and a true student life,” Aleksa said.

Natalija Milatovic from Podgorica has been playing handball for years and sees her future in sport.

“I always wanted to work as a coach and make sport my profession. I expect that through teamwork and learning we will gain knowledge that will help us achieve our dreams,” Natalija said.

A similar opinion is shared by Uros Vukomanovic from North Mitrovica, who, besides football, also practiced kickboxing.

“I chose the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education because I have been in sport my whole life. I expect us to learn many new things, and today we already met colleagues from different places. I believe this academic year will be excellent,” Uros said.

The Faculty of Sport and Physical Education in Leposavic has been successfully operating for more than a quarter of a century, educating generations of professors of sport and physical education, coaches, and experts who build their careers throughout Serbia and the region.
