Medical technician Dalibor Spasic, who was arrested a month ago in Jarinje, and today was released pending trial, says that now, when he is at home in North Mitrovica, he finally feels good, thanking his fellow citizens for their support, because, he says, the worst pain is when someone innocent "lies" in prison.

"We fought it out. I'm fine. Now that I'm here, everything is fine, thank you all. You helped me by being with me, and with all of us. The most important thing for us is our people, to know that they are with us, that they know that we are not guilty of anything, that we are sitting there innocent," Spasic told his fellow citizens when he arrived in Mitrovica.

He said that other imprisoned Serbs were also struggling.

"Mentally it's hard; anyone who hasn't been in prison doesn't know what it's like... It's hard for them. It's important that we were together, we shared those walls, and we were alone in a cell, but it's important that we cheered each other on, that was the most important thing to us. We mostly avoided talking about why the innocents are sitting there. The worst was the pain of lying in prison innocent," Spasic said to the gathered citizens who welcomed him.

Earlier today, his lawyer Srdjan Mitrovic told Kosovo Online that Spasic had been released on bail.

Mitrovic said that the Prosecutor's Office had requested an extension of custody for another two months, but that the judge had not accepted that request.

Dalibor Spasic, a medical technician from North Mitrovica, was arrested on June 17 in Jarinje while he was returning from central Serbia with his minor daughter and wife and spent a month in the high-risk prison in Grdovac near Podujevo.
