Idit Ohel: I know that the Serbian Government and President Vucic are doing everything to bring the kidnapped back
Idit Ohel, the mother of Alon Ohel, a young man kidnapped in the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, has high hopes for the efforts of the Serbian government to bring her son, as well as all the other kidnapped people, back to their homes.
Idit Ohel says for CNN that Alon is an Israeli-Serbian citizen and that she knows that the Serbian government, especially President Aleksandar Vucic, is doing everything in their power to bring her son back, who was kidnapped over two weeks ago.
She says she doesn't know where Alon is located.
"I only know where he went when he left home, where he was when he was kidnapped, and that he was alive when he was taken. That's all I know," she replied when asked about the information she currently had about her son's fate.
She reiterated that Alon had been at a peace music festival when explosions had been heard at 6 in the morning, prompting him to go to a shelter with friends.
"They thought it was a bombing. They didn't know about the terrorists. The terrorists soon came to the shelter, where they threw grenades. My son, who was in the shelter with 27 people, tried to throw out those grenades. One grenade exploded, and the terrorists entered. They dragged three people out, and my son was among them. It was hard to watch those scenes. They dragged him, and he tried to resist at first. When he saw that it was not helping him, he stopped. They put him in a truck and drove him in an unknown direction," she explained.
She added that of the 27 people in the shelter, seven of them who were wounded survived the attack, three were kidnapped, and the rest were killed.
"Alon has been there for 15 days already. I must say that he is an Israeli-Serbian citizen. I know that the Serbian government, especially President Vucic, is doing everything in their power to bring Alon back home. Alon is an innocent citizen who was in the wrong place at the wrong time," Idit emphasized.
She doesn't know what will happen, but she is convinced that the Israeli government, along with the Serbian government, will do everything to bring all the kidnapped individuals back home.
She said that she often woke up thinking about what she could do to bring her son back.
"When I heard that Alon was kidnapped, I decided to be strong and fight. In this battle, I seek support from our family, our community, the Israeli and Serbian people, as well as citizens of the world, to help us persevere in this fight for all of humanity," she emphasized.
As she pointed out, Israelis are fighting to get their lives back, and she knows Alon is strong and will get through all the hardships.
"I know he helps others get through these difficult times. Every night, I think about what he's going through... I wonder where my son is, what he's doing, if he has anything to eat, and if he can sleep," the concerned mother said.
