Mother of arrested Krstic from Kamenica: They turned the house upside down, showed a document only in Albanian
Radmila Krstic, the mother of Dragan Krstic, principal of the "Desanka Maksimovic" Elementary School in Kamenica, who was detained yesterday by the Kosovo Police, said that officers searched the family home, after which her son was taken to the police station and did not return home, Most TV reports.
Radmila Krstic said that the Kosovo Police arrived at their home on Thursday morning with a search warrant following a report alleging that they possessed weapons.
“Yesterday, around 8:30 a.m., the police parked in front of the house and six or seven officers got out. They entered through the gate. I was outside the house. They said they were looking for Dragan Krstic,” she said.
She added that the officers told them the Krstic family had been reported for possessing weapons, to which she replied that, as far as she knew, they did not have any weapons and that the police were free to search the house.
“Dragan was there. I called him and he came outside. They showed him some document. Everything was in Albanian, there was no translation at all, everything was written in Albanian,” Radmila Krstic told Tanjug.
According to her, the police thoroughly searched every room in the house.
“They searched every room, every corner, turned over and inspected everything they could. They searched the upper floor, the basement downstairs, and the auxiliary buildings as well. They searched everything. They said it would take 10 minutes, but the search of the house lasted an hour and ten minutes,” the mother of the detained Dragan Krstic said.
She added that after the search, her son was taken to the police station to give a statement.
“He said he was going to the police station, that he had to give a statement and would come back. They never released him, and he did not return. He takes medication, which we brought to him. My granddaughter had her graduation yesterday, her elementary school graduation. When she came home, she cried and asked where her father was. They have always harassed us like this. We are the only Serbs on that street. They have burned our cars, thrown bombs, there is nothing they have not done,” she said.
Krstic stated that she is proud of her son and that he has done nothing illegal.
The detained Krstic's mother-in-law, Snezana Arsic, said that they face problems with Pristina's institutions on a daily basis.
“I am at the police station every day, reporting the violence committed against us. We have problems with their institutions because we are Serbs, simply because we are Serbs,” Arsic said.
On Thursday, the Kosovo Police detained Negovan Vasic, principal of the "Bratstvo" Elementary School in the village of Strezovce, and Dragan Krstic, principal of the "Desanka Maksimovic" Elementary School in Kamenica. They were placed in police custody for up to 48 hours. The Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated that they were detained for political reasons and on the orders of Pristina.
The Serb List said that the case represents a classic example of political pressure and that the arrests took place precisely when, based on a complaint filed by Negovan Vasic as manager of a polling center, the Serb List had submitted an appeal to the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel regarding serious voting irregularities at a polling station in Boljevac.
Employees of all Serbian primary and secondary schools in the Kosovo Pomoravlje region held protests today over the arrest of the two principals of Serbian elementary schools in the Kamenica area.
