New signs bearing Kosovo symbols installed on clinics in the villages of Banje and Suvo Grlo
Four days after the inspection of the Srbica municipality, with police assistance, closed the clinics in the villages of Banje and Suvo Grlo that had been operating within the Serbian system, a new sign reading “Banje Clinic” was installed today on the facility in the village of Banje.
The new sign features the coat of arms of Kosovo on the right-hand side and the coat of arms of the municipality of Srbica on the left. The inscription “Banje Clinic” is displayed predominantly in the Albanian language, with two additional versions below, in Serbian and English.
Local residents told Kosovo Online that the sign was installed today at around 11:30 a.m., while they were gathered in front of the church for the traditional raising of the cross.
The inspection had previously, on April 10—Good Friday—closed the “St. Nicholas” clinic in the village of Banje, as well as the clinic in the village of Suvo Grlo. At that time, signs were also removed from the “Milun Jakšić” Primary School in Banje and the Technical School in Srbica.
The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, reacted to these developments, stating that they constitute a direct attack on Serbian healthcare and educational institutions.
The Serb List warned that such actions directly endanger the right to healthcare for the Serbian population, as well as for all citizens who had relied on the services of these medical facilities.
