The President of the Commission for Missing Persons, Veljko Odalovic, stated today that he expects a meeting to take place soon to discuss the formation of the Joint Commission on the Declaration on Missing Persons, as it is a prerequisite for continuing work in the field, RTV reports.

He told Tanjug that the formation of a joint commission was a prerequisite for resuming work in the field, at the locations, and in resuming the entire process, which, as he said, had been interrupted for two years due to Albin Kurti's unreasonable policies.

"A lot of information has been shared between Belgrade and Pristina, and there is new information as well, which is why I expect us to meet as soon as possible at the working group level and to share that information among ourselves, as we have done in the past, and to agree on a specific timeline and obligations, according to which we will conduct searches and verify that information, and make use of the upcoming time," he said.

Odalovic adds that this is the time when work can be done in the field and that until late autumn, a significant portion of information and locations for which there are leads will be checked and investigated.

The Joint Commission on the Declaration on Missing Persons, he said, should consist of an EU representative, representatives of Belgrade and Pristina, high-level representatives participating in the dialogue, and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

According to the consolidated list of missing persons agreed upon by Belgrade and Pristina with the International Committee of the Red Cross and the records kept by the committee, Odalovic states that currently, 1,621 individuals are listed as missing.
