Gjeta: Serbia, Albania, and North Macedonia have the capacity and resources for a joint tourism offer
Enis Gjeta, the owner of a winery and restaurant from the Albanian town of Librazhd, believes that Albania, Serbia, and North Macedonia, with their abundant tourist potentials such as excellent wine, gastronomic specialties, and natural treasures, could jointly create a regional tourism offering that would boost economic and industrial development.
As one of the exhibitors at the International Wine, Gastronomy, and Tourism Fair "Wine Vision of the Open Balkans," held in Belgrade, Gjeta told Kosovo Online that his family has a long tradition in producing wine, brandy, and rakija. They also own a small restaurant and have a successful partnership with a local travel agency.
He highlighted that numerous tourists visit his town and restaurant, with most visitors coming from Ukraine, North Macedonia, Spain, and Italy.
"My family owns a winery in Librazhd, a small town in central Albania. Our winery is one of the largest in Albania. It was built in 1916 and has been owned by my family since 1993. We produce wine from indigenous grape varieties. We have several types of wine and also produce brandy and rakija. Additionally, we have a small restaurant as part of the winery, and we collaborate with a local travel agency," Gjeta explained.
He emphasized having excellent cooperation with North Macedonia but noted a lack of collaboration with Serbia.
If the three countries were to join forces, he assessed, they could create a joint regional tourism offer.
He sees significant potential for such an initiative, citing beautiful nature, excellent wines, delicious food, and rich traditions.
"We have the capacity to create a joint tourism offer through the quality of our products. This is both possible and feasible. Our wine is wonderful, our town is beautiful. I believe it can be done," the winemaker stated.
He added that he would like to see regional cooperation elevated to a higher level but acknowledged that, for him, the main obstacles are economic and financial in nature.
