Radojevic: Preserving peace, security and stability is of utmost importance for all citizens

North Mitrovica Mayor Milan Radojevic met today with KFOR Deputy Commander Brigadier General Federico Collina and Chief of Staff of KFOR’s Multinational Specialized Unit, Lieutenant Colonel Massimo Ienco, the Mayor’s Office announced.

The meeting focused on the current security situation in North Mitrovica, the challenges facing the local government and residents, as well as the importance of cooperation and information-sharing.

Radojevic particularly emphasized the importance of KFOR’s continued presence at sensitive locations within the municipality.

“Preserving peace, security and stability is of utmost importance for all citizens. It is important that we maintain continuous communication and coordination with KFOR, as well as timely information-sharing, with the aim of taking preventive action and maintaining a stable and secure environment,” Radojevic said.

The statement added that the meeting reaffirmed the shared importance of open dialogue, regular communication and cooperation in preserving stability and security in North Mitrovica.

KFOR stated on Facebook that the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views and continue cooperation.

“During the meeting, Brigadier General Collina presented KFOR’s activities and reiterated KFOR’s commitment to contributing to a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo,” the statement said.

It added that KFOR continues to implement its mandate, based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999, to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, impartially and in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), within their respective roles as security actors.
