Economic experts assess that Kosovo is not on the right path of economic development due to reduced capital investments and a lack of foreign investments. Lajmi reports.

Former President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Safet Gerxhaliu, highlights the visible reduction of capital investments in Kosovo and the necessary reaction from the government.

"It is very difficult for us to give our conclusions and recommendations because they turn into hostility. Secondly, in this situation and with these economic parameters that Kosovo has, where we have a reduction of capital investments, distance in communication and dialogue, and an anti-business approach, these are truly alarming circumstances that should concern the competent authorities, especially the Minister of Finance," he said.

Gerxhaliu warned that Kosovo would become increasingly poorer as a result.

"The fact alone that in 2022, you have only 13% of the budget used for capital projects, then the attempt to transform Kosovo into a social state, and with such ad-hoc actions and Kosovo's approach, it is only becoming poorer. There is no development, no strengthening of the private sector, no foreign investors or investments, and how can we be proud of these results?" Gerxhaliu asked.

Economist Jakup Belaka stated that since Kosovo has an underdeveloped economy, steps should be taken to control inflation rather than make life harder for citizens.

"Every government is successful if it takes measures to reduce and control inflation and unemployment. Even we, as a developing but underdeveloped economy, would negatively affect the quality of life. Here, you need to raise the quality of life, control inflation, and control the price of electricity. In this regard, stabilization measures should be taken so that the lives of citizens are not made more difficult," he said.
