Rafuna: Businesses are shutting down or leaving Kosovo, the government should reconsider
The President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Lulzim Rafuna, stated that following the liberalization of the electricity market, businesses in Kosovo are shutting down, while some companies have expressed interest in operating abroad, Teve 1 reports.
Rafuna said that one company with 200 employees has closed down.
“One company with 200 employees has shut down, another with 50 employees has been placed on mandatory leave, and we already have companies that have started operating in Kukës, as well as others that are showing interest in free economic zones in Skopje,” Rafuna said.
Ahead of the protest announced for June 11, Rafuna called on the Government of Kosovo to reconsider, requesting a postponement of the decision.
“Our request must be urgently considered. We have also asked the President to intervene in order to save businesses and citizens. I have the impression that Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Minister Rizvanolli do not understand the seriousness of the situation,” Rafuna said.
