Dejan Pelevic from Socanica detained: Family in shock, no official information

The War Crimes Unit of the Kosovo Police detained Dejan Pelevic from Socanica this afternoon.

According to his wife, the detention took place in front of their grandchildren, which further distressed the family.

The family is currently gathered outside the police station, awaiting additional information regarding the reasons for the detention.

Pelevic’s wife told Kosovo Online that the situation caught them completely off guard and left them in shock.

“Everything happened suddenly, in front of the children. We are under great stress and still do not know exactly what is happening,” she stated.

As she added, the family has retained attorney Predrag Miljkovic, who is expected to provide legal assistance and further information regarding the case.

According to neighbors, Pelevic is known as a calm and composed individual who has never caused any problems. They also stated that during his career he first worked in the Serbian police and later in the Kosovo Police.

At present, there are no official statements from the police regarding the reasons for his detention.

Deputy Commander of Police for the North Region Veton Elshani stated that the case does not fall within his jurisdiction.

“The detention was carried out by the War Crimes Unit, and it is not within our competence,” Elshani said.
