A few hours after the Kosovo Police issued a statement claiming that none of its officers had been involved in the wounding of Milan Jovanovic last night at the Bistrica Bridge near Zvecan, a new statement followed stating that "four policemen have been suspended, and one is suspected to have fired a weapon".

In the statement of the Kosovo Police, it is stated that as a result of an intensive investigation with the relevant police units from the regional and central level, with the aim of shedding light on this case as soon as possible, it had been possible to obtain evidence that points to the possible involvement of a police officer in the shooting.

"Based on the provided information and evidence, measures were taken to suspend the police officer, since he did not report the case and his participation in the case, which is why the Kosovo Police issued a notice that he had not been involved in the exchange or shooting with firearms. Also, suspension measures were taken against three other possible officials involved in the case," the statement said.

In order to further inform the public about the actions of the police and the findings of official investigations, it is suspected that a police officer was involved in this case, so the Kosovo Police, according to legal procedures, immediately informed the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo and the competent prosecutor's office.

"The Kosovo Police will continue to perform official duties in accordance with the legal powers, in a fair and impartial manner, regardless of who is involved in the case, and under no circumstances, they will not act differently, only in accordance with the laws in force. At the same time, the Kosovo Police will closely cooperate with the Police Inspectorate and the State Prosecutor's Office, in order to continue to sanction police officers who violate and do not act according to the highest ethical and professional standards," the statement reads.
