Graffiti "KLA" at a building entrance in Bosnian Mahala; the tenants are upset
In the multi-ethnic neighborhood Bosnjacka Mahala (Bosnian Mahala) in North Mitrovica, another graffiti "KLA" appeared this morning, written in the corridor of a building where only Serbs live.
Residents noticed the graffiti this morning when they went to work. Fearing for their safety, they did not want to be in front of the cameras, but according to them, the graffiti was written during the night since it was not there yesterday.
"I saw this sign this morning when I went to get bread, and it disturbed me. Who needs this? We live here, we have never shown any provocation, and this is an open threat to us," one of the tenants told us.
Her neighbor says that it used to happen that "B-13" graffiti was written on the building but that there have not been such provocations in recent years.
"Even though we live 50 meters from the city promenade, we don't leave our apartments at night. When the children want to go out into the city, we call a taxi to pick them up and bring them back home. That's how we live and how safe we feel," she added.
Lately, inscriptions like this can be seen more frequently in Bosnian Mahala, and they were especially noticed after the Serbs left Kosovo's institutions at the beginning of November.
