Kryeziu: By not certifying the Serb List, equality and the right to compete are being violated

The Executive Director of the Kosova Democratic Institute, Ismet Kryeziu, reacted after the CEC did not certify the Serb List for the local elections on October 12, stressing that such an approach violates equality and the right to compete, and compared the decision to a “public trial and lynching.”

“The CEC, composed of ‘people around the table,’ did not certify the Serb List for the local elections, and such decisions turn into public trials and lynching. This approach violates equality and the right to compete, while the institution is burdened with political folklore, and Kosovo devalues its own strength and becomes more vulnerable,” he wrote on Facebook.

According to Kryeziu, patriotism today means respecting the constitutional order and integrating the Serbian community in Kosovo, not excluding it from political processes.

“It is painful when the political class becomes a victim of demagoguery and, for a handful of votes, brings Kosovo to the red line as a country that violates the rights of minority communities, harming its image and international partnerships,” he added.

“To be a patriot today means to love the Republic and to respect the constitutional, legal, and political order on which it is built. Patriotism is respecting the Serbian citizens, their elected representatives, engaging in dialogue with them, and working on their integration, not their exclusion,” Kryeziu stated.
