Berisha: From Kurti, anything can be expected, nothing is sacred
President of the Albanian National Council in Serbia, Demo Berisha, recently condemned the harassment of Serbian youths in Leposavic by the Kosovo Police, emphasizing that this is part of what Albin Kurti has planned with the aim of driving Serbs out of Kosovo.
"The police's treatment of Serbian youths is just a continuation of what Kurti has planned in dealing with the Serbian people in Kosovo. Everyone is sensitive to children, and this is a way to further encourage the emptying of that space of Serbs," explained Berisha to B92.
He emphasized that Kurti will not calm down until he achieves his goal.
"This case shows that Serbs are not safe. If you touch children, you have crossed every norm, and that deserves condemnation," Berisha emphasized.
He reminded that Kurti continues to act against prominent Serbs through actions of alleged finding of weapons and people who were involved in Banjska.
"This is all a continuation of Kurti's efforts to completely expel Serbs. From him, anything can be expected, because nothing is sacred to him," he stressed.
Berisha said that ambassadors of the Quint give him a boost with their statements that both sides need to calm down.
Regarding KFOR and EULEX, or the Kosovo Police, he says there has been a change in roles.
"According to UN Resolution 1244, only KFOR is responsible for security in Kosovo. The Government of Serbia should ask KFOR again, as the only institution mandated to ensure security in Kosovo, why it has relinquished this role to someone else. KFOR and EULEX are shirking responsibility and have left it to someone else to be the first in this sector," he said.
He pointed out that it is unclear what Kurti has in mind regarding security forces, but it is clear what he plans and in which direction he is moving with the violent seizure of land in the north.
Berisha emphasized that the absence of a meeting with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama during his recent visit to Pristina is further evidence that Kurti sees himself as the leader of all Albanians in these areas.
