Borko Stefanovic: Individuals are responsible for the violence in Banjska, and they must be held accountable, as well as those who perpetrate violence against the Serbs

Borko Stefanovic, President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of Serbia, stated today that individuals were responsible for the death and violence in Banjska, and they must be held accountable for everything they had done, Danas reported.

Stefanovic, speaking at the meeting of the heads of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the delegations in the Parliamentary Dimension of the Central European Initiative in Trieste, stressed that those who had been implementing violent measures against the Serbs for some time in an attempt to force them to leave their homes must also be held accountable, as reported by the Party of Freedom and Justice.

He pointed out that the pressure from Pristina and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, on the Serbs was enormous and concrete solutions needed to be found through dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina to address the existing problems.

He noted that the discussion on the status could not contribute anything because Belgrade could not recognize the independence of Kosovo.

The statement of the National Assembly of Serbia also said that Stefanovic had emphasized the importance of the Western Balkans becoming a part of the European Union as soon as possible, and the EU must find a way to make it possible.

He added that preparations for full membership could be achieved by 2030 and that this date represented a realistic and achievable goal for both candidates and the EU.
