The President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Vladimir Orlic, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, during which the Azerbaijani Minister confirmed that his country supported the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and that their stance of not recognizing Kosovo would not change.

As stated in the announcement from the Government of Serbia, Orlic and Bayramov expressed their satisfaction with the repeated meeting, which followed a previous meeting during the recent visit of the President of the Serbian Assembly to Baku.

They jointly acknowledged that the relationship between Serbia and Azerbaijan was based on a strategic partnership and genuine friendship, primarily thanks to the two Presidents, Aleksandar Vucic and Ilham Aliyev. They also welcomed the exceptional cooperation in infrastructure and various fields, as well as the dynamic political dialogue at all levels.

During the meeting, Orlic and Bayramov noted that Serbia and Azerbaijan consistently respected the fundamental principles of international law. In this regard, Bayramov once again confirmed that Azerbaijan unequivocally supported the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, and their stance of not recognizing Kosovo would not change. Orlic expressed gratitude for this and emphasized that Serbia deeply appreciated Azerbaijan's clear position expressed before the Council of Europe.

"When it comes to respecting the same principles, you can always count on Serbia's support", Orlic said.

He took the opportunity to brief Minister Bayramov on the difficult situation in Kosovo.

"Albin Kurti not only continues the terror against the Serbs but also escalates it. At the same time, he refuses to continue the dialogue, which deserves clear condemnation from all global actors. Our state positions are clear and articulated in the words of the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vucic: we advocate for peace, we want stability for all, and we are dedicated to dialogue. Furthermore, at all times, we will respect our Constitution, and our country, and fight for our people. Thanks to our friendly Azerbaijan for understanding this perfectly", Orlic emphasized.

Bayramov welcomed the state policy that Serbia was implementing – sovereign and independent, which, as he pointed out, only a few countries could boast of. He also applauded Serbia's economic and infrastructural successes and the efforts made to preserve peace in the region.
