Brnabic: I think Vucic has managed to remove the threat of imposing sanctions on Serbia
Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today that President Aleksandar Vucic, during the European Political Community summit in Granada, had successfully averted the decision to impose sanctions on Serbia, which had been under discussion in the international community after the incident in Banjska on September 24, RTV reported.
"The President had numerous meetings there with many officials, and we talked this morning around half-past one when it ended. I wanted to show my support because I'm not even entirely sure if I fully comprehend the immense burden he took upon himself to protect Serbia and the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija. I think he has managed to remove the immediate threat of sanctions, but I cannot discuss the details," the Prime Minister of Serbia said on Pink TV, as reported by Tanjug.
She emphasized that after the incident in Banjska, there had been a flood of disinformation from Pristina, and the President, with his composure, had managed to stop it.
"There was a flood of disinformation from Pristina to attack Serbia and use that tragedy to impose sanctions on Serbia and the President. He succeeded through incredible hard work and focus, and in those most challenging moments, calmly and without despair, to continue working. I would say he managed to stop the avalanche of disinformation and stabilize the situation," Brnabic said.
She added that the most important message to the citizens was that she was convinced that the President had secured the preservation of Serbia during the summit in Granada.
"I believe that yesterday in Granada, the President managed to ensure the preservation of Serbia. I cannot discuss the details, but I think he succeeded. Has the crisis and difficult times passed? They haven't. There are still enormous pressures from all sides, immense pressures from the region, and, as all our citizens could see, a strong desire to exploit this situation in the southern province and impose sanctions on Serbia," the Prime Minister assessed.
She reiterated that she believed the president had managed to avert the immediate threat of sanctions on Serbia but that she could not say more about it at that moment.
