Brnabic: Kurti wants no Serbs in Kosovo; Serbia ready to protect them
Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic pointed out today that increasing the combat readiness of the police and army meant that Serbia was ready to react if someone attacked Serbs in Kosovo, adding that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's behavior showed that the only thing he wanted is for there to be no Serbs in Kosovo, RTV reports.
After the "Talents together" conference, Brnabic, responding to journalists' questions to comment on the latest events in Kosovo, said that Kurti managed to make a full circle of incredible provocations and unilateral moves in 2022.
"He violated all the agreements, and when I say full circle, I mean that he started from the fact that he revoked the right to vote for Serbs in January, until a recent ban on the patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Porfirije, to enter Kosovo," Brnabic said.
When asked what it means to increase the combat readiness of the army and the police, Brnabic said that it meant that Serbia was ready to react if someone attacked the Serbs in Kosovo.
She points out that the situation in Kosovo is getting more serious day by day and that there is more and more tension.
"Kurti started to threaten with human casualties and with violently removing the barricades, and I hope that international partners will have enough sense not to allow such things," Brnabic points out.
As she says, Serbs are only asking for basic human rights.
"Not to be arrested without evidence, not to be mistreated, kidnapped, that a lawyer can reach the arrested person, that families are not without any contact with their members for 14, 15 days, the implementation of international agreements, that there are no secret lists and lists for arrest and in accordance with the Brussels agreement that the Kosovo Police and their special units withdraw from the north of Kosmet," Brnabic added.
As she emphasized, these were not big demands, but minimal ones that in the 21st century should not even be discussed.
"Not letting the patriarch come and visit the Patriarchate, Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, and during the holidays, is something that should clearly show to Kurti's allies what kind of man he is and how he sees respect for the rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija," Brnabic said.
