Dacic: Escobar and Lajcak are coming to de-escalate the situation, the Serbs are not a problem

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, said that the Special EU Envoy for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, and the American emissary, Gabriel Escobar, were coming to Pristina and Belgrade to de-escalate the situation in the north of Kosovo, and pointed out that the Serbs were not a problem when it came to constructiveness, RTV reports.

"The authorities in Pristina say that they do not care that the Serbs will not participate in the institutions, it is a completely opposite situation compared to ten years ago. Again, it is very important to be sober and try not to have any incidents, to save people, the main thing is to save people from living in the north of Kosovo," Dacic said.

He also stated that it was important for international missions in Kosovo and Metohija to be as strong and numerous as possible and to have adequate powers, as well as that those who commanded KFOR should understand the conditions under which they worked, that is, what their main goal was.

"Here, KFOR practically entered the game in the 'second half', in these events, and the Albanians used the 'first half' to enter the building, to create some new real situation. KFOR instead of making it impossible for Special Police Forces to be present in the north and for those so-called mayors to enter the buildings, the members of this mission entered in the 'second half' and stood in front, and it looked as if they were protecting those mayors who were inside," Dacic said in a statement for Tanjug.

He explained that the unilateral acts of Albin Kurti led to the fact that no one saw what the permanent solution to the problems in Kosovo and Metohija was.

"In this current situation, no one is thinking of writing the statute of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, and in order to go further, you know that the main condition for us is to form the CSM. And it cannot be formed until the statute and other documents are adopted and until the electoral process is not really finished," Dacic said.

Commenting on the reactions from abroad regarding the crisis in the north of Kosovo, the minister said that they were twofold.

"We had two reactions in these days. One was that everyone condemned Pristina's unilateral act, and I have to say that much more harshly than before, but of course, they also condemned the attack on the KFOR units, and that's why President Vuccć emphasized that several times. He said that he was asking the Serbs not to clash with KFOR," Dacic said.
