Dacic: Serbia's position on the Franco-German proposal is very clear and responsible
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic stated today that the official position of Serbia regarding the Franco-German proposal on the resolution of the Kosovo issue was very clear and responsible, namely that Serbia wanted the dialogue to continue, to participate in it and that all of this should be discussed based on this plan, Euronews reports.
Dacic, answering the questions of journalists in Belgrade, said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic clearly stated what the red lines were, in other words, what was unacceptable, and that was Kosovo's membership in the United Nations.
"This is very important because I had the opportunity to hear the assessment in Brussels that Vucic behaved constructively and responsibly, unlike Pristina, and I think it is very important that we try to preserve our state and national interests, but also to preserve Serbia from various threats, blackmail, possible sanctions and everything that could threaten Serbia's citizens' future," Dacic said.
When asked what he expected from today's visit of European Parliament member Vladimir Bilcik to Serbia, Dacic reminded that during his visit to Brussels this week, he had the opportunity to speak with the European Parliament's representatives.
He stated that today's visit was one of the regular visits made by the European Parliament's representatives, especially those who monitor the situation in a particular country.
"We have a lot of points of contention with them, and the European Parliament is an institution whose decisions are not binding for the European authorities, but in any case, it is very important that we react to everything that is not true in their reports, and regardless of that, I think that Serbia has its European path," Dacic stated after the ceremony marking the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust.
