Djordjevic: The T-shirts were in no way provocative—We were prevented from celebrating Vidovdan
Marijana Đorđević, a member of the United Serbia Association—whose pilgrimage organizer was detained today in front of Gracanica Monastery—stated that members of the association from all over Serbia and the diaspora had gathered to celebrate Vidovdan in Kosovo, and that the T-shirts they wore were in no way provocative.
"We’re talking about the organizer of a group that arranged a pilgrimage to Kosovo and Metohija, including visits to monasteries. Yesterday we visited one site, and today we planned to visit Gazimestan and Gracanica. We arrived wearing T-shirts that are in no way provocative—made in three colors: red, blue, and white. I am from Kosovo and Metohija, and for years we have been suffering under their repression. It is impossible to survive in this region," Djordjevic emphasized.
She explained that the United Serbia Association is based in Belgrade and includes members from the diaspora as well.
"We came from Munich, Frankfurt... We gathered to celebrate this holiday, but as you can see, we were prevented from doing so," she said.
As a reminder, Kosovo police detained the organizer of the pilgrimage in front of Gracanica Monastery. The commander of the Gracanica police station, Bratislav Trajkovic, who spoke with the detainee on the street and escorted him to a police vehicle, said he was not authorized to make public statements.
A heavy presence of Kosovo police was observed in Gracanica, along with members of KFOR, EULEX, and the Kosovo Police Inspectorate.
