Djuric with Logvinov: The UN is the most important international organization, especially on the issue of protecting Serbia’s territorial integrity

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Djuric, met with the Director of the Department for International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Kirill Mikhailovich Logvinov, who is heading the Russian delegation at consultations on multilateral issues to be held today between the two ministries, ahead of the general debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

Djuric emphasized that Serbia regards the United Nations as the most important international organization, particularly when it comes to safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity, and expressed gratitude for Russia’s principled position on the status of Kosovo.

Underscoring the importance of continuity in dialogue and meetings at the highest and senior levels, Djuric made special reference to the recent meeting between Presidents Vučić and Putin in Beijing, stressing that it was a confirmation of the mutual readiness to preserve the traditionally close ties between the two countries.

He noted that today’s consultations on cooperation within the UN system, held in the run-up to the general debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, were extremely useful.

Djuric reiterated that Serbia considers the UN the most important international organization, especially with regard to the protection of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Serbian Foreign Minister reaffirmed Serbia’s commitment to the priority areas of UN activity, while also conveying readiness to continue good cooperation with the Russian Federation in this forum.

On this occasion as well, Djuric expressed gratitude for the principled position of the Russian Federation on the status of Kosovo.
