Djuric with Pierce and Balakrishnan on strengthening cooperation with the UK and Singapore

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Djuric held talks in New York, during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, with United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Karen Pierce and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore Vivian Balakrishnan.

Djuric discussed bilateral relations, current issues and opportunities for further strengthening regional cooperation with Pierce, according to a statement from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As added in the statement, on that occasion he said that the Republic of Serbia remains open to new phases of bilateral cooperation to come, and particularly stressed that the Republic of Serbia remains firmly committed to preserving peace and stability in the region.

Djuric also met in New York with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore Vivian Balakrishnan, and during the talks stressed Serbia's interest in further intensifying bilateral cooperation with Singapore, recalling the foundations built during a period of intensive cooperation within the Non-Aligned Movement.

According to him, strengthening political dialogue and intensifying exchanges of visits at the high and highest levels would provide additional impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation and the strengthening of ties between the two countries.

Speaking about economic relations, according to the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Djuric expressed Serbia's readiness to intensify economic and investment cooperation and define specific areas where there are realistic opportunities for new projects and investments.

He particularly highlighted Singapore's experience in the fields of innovation and cybersecurity, assessing that these areas offer opportunities for concrete cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and experience between the two countries.

Djuric expressed satisfaction that the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Singapore will be marked in the year that Belgrade hosts the Specialized Expo 2027, and invited Minister Balakrishnan to visit Serbia during the exhibition, assessing that his official visit would make a significant contribution to marking this important anniversary and further strengthening relations between the two countries.
