Djuric with Rogers in New York on strengthening Serbia-US relations

Serbia’s caretaker Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met today in New York with US Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy Sarah Rogers to discuss strengthening relations between Serbia and the United States.

According to a statement from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, particular attention was devoted to the participation of the United States in the Specialized Expo 2027 in Belgrade.

Djuric stressed that Serbia attached great importance to US participation in the event hosted by Belgrade and that Expo 2027 represented an important opportunity to further strengthen ties between the two countries, both through the US national pavilion and through various events and programs to be organized during the exhibition.

The two officials also discussed the next steps in preparations for the US pavilion, including the specific companies involved in the project and the stages ahead to ensure that everything is ready for the implementation of the projects and programs planned for Expo 2027.

The Serbian Foreign Minister also stressed that Expo 2027 could provide additional impetus for a high-level visit to Serbia and for intensifying political and economic contacts between the two countries.

They also discussed the significant anniversary in the history of Serbian-US relations that will be marked next year—the 145th anniversary of the entry into force of the Treaty of Commerce and the Consular Convention—which gives 2027 additional symbolism and significance.

In light of current developments, the Serbian Foreign Minister stressed that Serbia would take a systematic approach to further developing its Strategic Dialogue with the United States, as well as strengthening the institutional framework needed to translate the agreed priorities into concrete action and facilitate the further implementation of joint initiatives.
