Djuric with Senator Ricketts: Pristina's unilateral moves are taking us away from the negotiating table
Serbian Ambassador to the United States Marko Djuric met today with Senator Pete Ricketts, newly elected member of the Subcommittee on Europe in the US Senate, with whom he discussed the current political and security situation in the region.
Djuric shared with Ricketts Serbia's concerns about Pristina’s latest moves and the direct consequences for Serbs.
He pointed out that the continuation of unilateral and unconstructive decisions leads to an increasing distance from the negotiating table, announced the Serbian Embassy in Washington.
"Our priority is our people and their status in Kosovo and Metohija. Pristina's provocative moves are based on the arbitrariness of one man, whose sole goal is the expulsion of the Serbian population from our southern province," underlined Djuric.
He reminded the interlocutor that Belgrade has fulfilled every obligation stipulated in all agreements and arrangements signed so far, while Pristina has not formed the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities for almost 11 years and continues to oppose any aspiration towards a compromise solution.
In addition to the exchange of opinions on international issues in Europe and the world, Ambassador Djuric also discussed with Senator Ricketts the increasingly strong economic relations between Serbia and the USA, the future perspectives of the "Open Balkans" initiative, as well as current energy and infrastructure projects in Serbia.
