Djuric: Significant engagement of Italy within KFOR

Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric pointed out today, in a conversation with the chairman of the European Union Policy Committee of the Italian Parliament, Alessandro Giglio Vigna, the importance of Italy’s engagement within KFOR, primarily in maintaining security and stability in Kosovo.

Djuric emphasized that Serbia sees Italy as a sincere and close friendly country and that it wants to further strengthen cooperation at all levels in the coming period.

He recalled that Italy is an important strategic partner of Serbia, with which intensive political dialogue is being developed, as well as cooperation in numerous areas.

“Serbia highly values Italy’s consistent support for our European path, including support in opening Cluster 3, as well as in the field of regional cooperation, stressing that a stable and prosperous region is the shared goal of both countries”, Djuric said, as stated in the press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to him, Serbia wants even more intensive economic cooperation with Italy, especially in view of the significant results our country has achieved in strengthening economic stability, which represents a solid basis for a greater presence of Italian companies on the Serbian market and new opportunities for joint investments.

The Serbian foreign minister assessed that the cooperation between the two parliaments is developing in a good direction and that it has been further intensified in recent months, which carries particular weight in conditions of shared international challenges. He stressed that this kind of political dialogue is of key importance for a deeper understanding of circumstances in both countries and for strengthening overall bilateral relations.

Djuric extended an invitation to Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani to visit Belgrade in the coming period, expressing confidence that such a visit would provide additional impetus to further strengthening bilateral relations and deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
