EU: Serious concern over CEC decision not to adopt final results for the Serb List
The EU has expressed serious concern over the fact that the Central Election Commission did not adopt the final results for the Serb List in the recent parliamentary elections, the EU Office in Pristina told Kosovo Online.
As stated in a written response to our portal, “The EU reiterates its call for the depoliticization of the work of the CEC, in line with the report of the EU Election Observation Mission, and calls on all parties to work together, in accordance with the Constitution.”
“It is important that all elected members are able to take up their seats in the new Assembly of Kosovo. The EU recalls that the next convocation of Kosovo’s legislative body must once again accelerate EU-oriented reforms and ratify agreements related to the Growth Plan, for the benefit of the population of Kosovo,” the EU Office in Kosovo concluded.
At its most recent meeting, the Central Election Commission did not approve the publication of the election results for the Serb List, after which the Serb List filed a complaint with the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel yesterday.
The OSCE Mission in Kosovo also commented yesterday on the CEC decision, calling for respect for international electoral standards and the transparent publication of voting results.
“The OSCE Mission in Kosovo notes that the political party Serb List has filed a complaint with the Election Complaints and Submissions Panel regarding the elections, in response to the Central Election Commission’s failure last week to officially publish their votes received in the December 2025 elections,” the statement on the X network said.
The CEC decision not to approve the publication of election results for the Serb List runs counter to the right of Kosovo citizens to democratically elect their representatives, a spokesperson for the US Embassy in Pristina told Kosovo Online.
“Any attempt to undermine that fundamental principle undermines the partnership between the United States and Kosovo,” the written response of the US Embassy spokesperson in Pristina to our portal stated.
Kosovo Online also addressed this topic, and our interlocutors pointed out that the CEC decision in question demonstrates Self-Determination’s desire to label the Serb List and raises suspicion that this commission has become a political body that accepts only those results it favors.
