EU: We regret that parties failed to find a unifying figure for a presidential candidate

The European Union Office in Pristina told Kosovo Online that it regrets political parties failed to find a unifying figure for a presidential candidate, which, as they point out, has led Kosovo toward its third general election in less than 18 months.

The European Union recalls that it has repeatedly called on all political actors to ensure institutional stability.

“We regret that political parties failed to find a unifying figure as a presidential candidate, which means that Kosovo is now heading toward its third general election in less than 18 months,” the response states.

The European Union stresses that it is urgent for Kosovo to strengthen inter-party dialogue in order to ensure the effective functioning of institutions and to avoid missing opportunities that are in the interest of citizens, including those within the Growth Plan.

“The European Union has demonstrated its readiness to continue supporting and cooperating with Kosovo in all areas through ongoing engagement, including the implementation of Kosovo’s Reform Agenda and the EU-facilitated dialogue on normalization,” the statement concludes.
