The European Parliament announced that it did not yet know when the next phase of visa liberalization for Kosovo would begin, but it had stated the end of the year as the deadline, Gazeta Express reports.

"Now that the Council of the European Union has given the green light, the European Parliament can discuss this matter further. I don't have information about the specific deadline for that yet, because the Council has just made a decision. We hope to know more by the end of the year," the European Parliament spokesperson said.

On Wednesday, the ambassadors of the member states of the European Union reached an agreement on the negotiating mandate of the Council of the European Union on the regulation of visa-free travel for citizens of Kosovo.

After the ambassadors have finished voting, the question of visa liberalization goes to the European Parliament and the European Commission.
