Hill: It is important that borders do not divide but rather unite, that is why we support regional projects
Ambassador of the United States to Serbia Christopher Hill stated that he particularly supported market integration initiatives in the region, such as the Open Balkan.
"I hope that this gathering of representatives from various countries across the region shows that agriculture truly needs an open region, where borders do not divide but connect. That's why we support all regional integration projects, including especially the Open Balkan," Hill emphasized at the opening of the fifth International Fair of Fruit Growing, Vegetable Growing, and Viticulture in Belgrade.
He added that "no one engaged in production needs to be explained how problematic it is for their products to wait at the border for several hours.
"It is necessary to continue working on this," Hill noted.
He emphasized that agriculture knows no borders and is extremely important for the development and progress of each country.
"No matter how much we talk about the technological sector today, what brings people together is the agricultural sector. It is a sector that must keep up with the challenges of this time. It is connected to infrastructure development, technological investments, and capital issues. I am proud of the support that our Agency for International Development (USAID) has provided to the agricultural sector in Serbia," Hill stated.
