Former Prime Minister and member of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Avdullah Hoti, says that in the period from January to October this year, compared to the same period last year, 850 million euros more goods were imported into Kosovo, while exports increased by 154 million euros in the same period.
Hoti posted on Facebook that this deepened the trade deficit, which, according to him, reached 3.9 billion euros.
"The deepening of the trade deficit puts into question the economic growth, domestic production, and employment in Kosovo," Hoti said.
He added that this contradicted what "the government propagated at international conferences".
"If we analyze the trade with the Western Balkan countries, we see that imports from all these countries are reduced, except for Serbia. Some might say trade is free, and it defines imports and exports. I agree with that. But free trade has existed even in the years when those who govern today rolled trucks with goods from Serbia," Hoti added.
