Iraq maintains position on non-recognition of Kosovo
Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Dusan Kozarev, met today with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Iraq in Belgrade, Mayada Abdullah Yassin, who reaffirmed Iraq’s strong support for Serbia regarding the issue of Kosovo.
Kozarev and El Adami discussed strengthening the ties between the two countries, concluding that the relationship is friendly and based on decades of mutual understanding and respect, as well as shared commitment to an independent, interest-driven foreign policy in a complex global arena.
The Iraqi side reiterated its firm stance of support for Serbia concerning Kosovo and Metohija, while both parties emphasized their readiness to continue mutual support in all areas of shared importance, according to a statement from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Kozarev briefed his interlocutor on developments in the region, particularly regarding the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Speaking about internal affairs in Serbia, especially in Kosovo, he pointed to the repression of the Serbian population by Albin Kurti’s regime. Part of the discussion also focused on the attempted “color revolution” and the unacceptable restrictions placed on the work of Radio Television of Serbia (RTS).
Regarding cooperation, both sides acknowledged opportunities for further strengthening in the fields of culture, economy, and security. During today’s meeting, invitations were exchanged for the international specialized exhibition EXPO 2027, to be hosted by Belgrade, and for the Baghdad International Fair.
The discussion also included an invitation to Serbian companies to participate in infrastructure projects in Iraq.
