Jevtic: 10 years after the Brussels Agreement, Serbian people in the most difficult situation yet
Vice President of the Serb List Dalibor Jevtic stated today that ten years after signing the Brussels Agreement, the Serbian people in Kosovo are in the most difficult situation they have ever faced.
Jevtic told Prva TV that the situation was a result of the policies of the current government in Pristina led by Albin Kurti, which involved numerous incidents targeting the Serbian people, undemocratic processes, and the arrest of Serbs on fabricated charges.
"On the ground, everything is happening the opposite of what Kurti says, even when he congratulates us on Easter and speaks to us in Serbian," Jevtic observed.
He says that there is now an attempt to carry out the electoral process in the north of Kosovo without the participation of Serbs, and an attempt to bring to power those who represent two percent of the population in areas where 98 percent of the population is Serbian.
This, he says, is contrary to democracy and the goal of calming the situation and building trust, and is a true reflection of what Kurti calls democracy.
Jevtic emphasizes that Kurti considers the Serbs a problem and that his ultimate goal is to eliminate the Serbs from Kosovo.
He also criticized the international community, saying that it bore responsibility for not establishing the CSM.
"Instead of creating mechanisms for the formation of the CSM, the international community is doing nothing. Although we have heard various messages that the CSM will be formed with or without Kurti, it has not happened," Jevtic stressed.
When asked about the danger of incidents on Sunday during the local elections in the north, Jevtic said that Serbs would do everything, as they had confirmed in their conversation with Aleksandar Vucic, to preserve peace and not to react in any way to provocations that might occur not only on the day of voting but also before.
He points out that another question is being raised, as he says he has told representatives of the international community, which is what is gained from this process.
"When they tell me that it is about the law and the constitution, I give an example of how laws are not respected today. There is a situation where municipalities in the south do not function due to a lack of respect for the law," Jevtic explained.
Jevtic emphasizes that it is clear that Kurti does not want to calm the situation.
"Whenever the situation calms down, his rating drops, and he deals with that. For him, the best possible situation is a state of conflict and tension, as that is when his popularity and that of his party grows. He came to power on the topic of opposition to the CSM and to the rights of Serbs," Jevtic concluded.
