Jovanovic: Occupation of "Rajska Banja" is an uncivilized act, part of a plan to expel the Serbian people from Kosovo
Historian Luka Jovanovic warns that the confiscation of the hotel in Banjska by the Privatization Agency of Kosovo, leased to the Kosovo Police, should be understood as part of a broader global plan to seize everything Serbian and expel the Serbian people from Kosovo.
Jovanovic emphasizes that the occupation of the "Rajska Banja" resort and its transformation into a center of "cruelty and lawlessness" is an uncivilized act. However, he believes that the Serbian people will not receive protection and support from the international community this time either, which he claims is a "partner, if not a patron, of all actions by Pristina in northern Kosovo and Metohija."
"Over the centuries, Banjska has been a symbol of survival and the struggle of the Serbian people for life in these areas, as evidenced by the centuries-old monastery located in Banjska itself. In recent years, we can see that life in Banjska, as a rural part of the Zvecan municipality, has advanced considerably, especially with the construction of the famous 'Rajska Banja' complex. This includes the revitalization of the old spa complex, its renovation, the construction of new hotels, and the employment of local residents. Banjska and its population have economically progressed, becoming a significant tourist attraction in northern Kosovo, or the Zvecan municipality," Jovanovic said for Kosovo Online.
Therefore, he points out, this latest action by Pristina must be understood in the context of breaking down every Serbian institution in northern Kosovo, especially those that are strong and have solid foundations accepted and embraced by the people, just like "Rajska Banja."
He emphasizes that in recent years, foreigners, not only Serbs but also Albanians and others seeking healing, have visited "Rajska Banja."
"It's an interesting question and irony of fate that a place that served for relaxation and healing is now turned by Pristina into the headquarters of its so-called police forces and a center of cruelty and lawlessness. Now, 'Rajska Banja' will transform from a beautiful spot into one marked by such a negative aspect. We can actually see the principle by which Pristina operates, that it is crucial to take over everything and occupy everything that is Serbian, regardless of the consequences," Jovanovic pointed out.
The historian believes that Pristina considers the confiscation of the resort from the Serbs as its victory.
"We need to understand all of this primarily in the context of occupation. This is a classic military occupation of territory, the seizure of strategically important points and objects, the destruction of any resistance and opposition to such barbaric and uncivilized acts. We must understand that this is not the end, and such things will continue in the future, and the people now more than ever have reasons to fear in these areas," he warns.
When asked if the international community will react to Pristina's move, Jovanovic notes that it could be concluded even earlier that the international community is an absolute partner, if not a patron and ideologist of all actions in northern Kosovo.
"Although they suggest many actions to be implemented, expecting them to condemn and react, I think, is illusory at this point, and especially asking them, the Prometheus of civilization, to respect rules and civilizational achievements is futile now because they have shown over the past 25 years in the example of Kosovo and Metohija that there is no justice, and behind everything, the law of force prevails," Jovanovic concluded.
