Analyst Melazim Koci believes that Bedri Hamza’s resignation as leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and calls for changes at the helm of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) signal further divisions within the opposition.

Speaking to Kosovo Online, Koci said that Kosovo’s opposition was already weak and that the announced changes could further undermine its position.

“The problem with Kosovo’s opposition lies in its inability to unite at key moments when confronting the ruling Self-Determination. Kosovo’s political scene needs new political forces, namely parties that would bring together the younger generation, which, in my opinion, is not adequately represented,” Koci said.

Our interviewee added that the current opposition in Kosovo offered little hope that it would be capable of successfully challenging the dominant Self-Determination, even after changes in its ranks.

“Accordingly, I expect that any new parties emerging in the coming period will represent forces capable of successfully challenging Self-Determination,” Koci predicted.
