Kosovo Online learns: Pristina's membership request not on Council of Europe's agenda tomorrow
According to diplomatic sources, Kosovo Online has learned that Kosovo's request for membership in the Council of Europe will not be on the agenda of the Committee of Ministers of this organization tomorrow.
Based on our information, Germany has been the most insistent on putting the issue of Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe before the Committee of Ministers, and it allegedly seeks an extraordinary session of the Committee of Ministers to discuss this issue, already scheduled for April 21.
Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic hinted yesterday that there were intentions to "unlock" Pristina's application after months of blockade, specifically on the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Brussels Agreement and a decade of waiting for the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities.
Dacic said yesterday that there was information that the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe would begin the procedure for admitting Kosovo to this institution tomorrow and that, if that happened, he would not travel to Strasbourg today, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Serbia's admission to the Council of Europe.
"What kind of message is that? It's a humiliation and a message that Kosovo can do whatever it wants. If these announcements are true, I certainly will not go to Strasbourg tomorrow," Dacic said yesterday and added that "something that is not a state has ever been admitted to the Council of Europe."
He added that Serbia would not allow its "constructiveness to be perceived as weakness."
"We will not allow it. Should Kosovo be rewarded with the start of the procedure for their admission 10 years after the signing of the Brussels Agreement and rejecting the obligation to establish the CSM? That's such a foul that it's unforgivable," Dacic said.
As we learn, he traveled to Strasbourg today since Kosovo's application will not be on the agenda of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers tomorrow.
