Krdzic: University and Serbian healthcare institutions continue to operate normally
Biljana Krdzic, Vice Dean for Teaching at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Pristina temporarily seated in Kosovska Mitrovica, emphasized that the solution regarding the Law on Foreigners—pertaining to the stay of students and healthcare workers who do not possess Kosovo-issued documents—is of great importance for the survival of the University and healthcare institutions.
Krdzic stated that the decision has brought significant relief to students, staff, and lecturers who are not from Kosovo, many of whom are affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine.
“We can express our gratitude, first and foremost, to our state leadership, as well as to local politicians who made maximum efforts to engage with the international community and contribute to the adoption of this solution. Following this, we were able to breathe a little easier and continue our work as before. We have been operating at full capacity throughout, and we have now continued with our activities,” said Krdzic.
She recalled that the Faculty of Medicine is the largest faculty within the University of Pristina, with more than one thousand students enrolled across six study programs.
“All of them attend classes regularly. Nothing has been interrupted. We are now continuing our work as usual, with a somewhat reduced burden. Relief came after this agreement was reached. This solution is temporary, but it is of great importance,” Krdzic emphasized.
She also reiterated that the right to education and healthcare is a fundamental right of every ethnic group.
“What has been achieved in the fields of education and healthcare represents a major success of our state and its leadership, as well as a significant effort by local politicians. The University and healthcare institutions are the pillars of this society, and without them there is no survival of the people in Kosovo and Metohija,” Krdzic concluded.
The Faculty of Medicine is operating as usual today, with a large number of students attending lectures and practical sessions according to the regular schedule.
