Kryeziu: There will be political maneuvering in the coming period, elections the only solution
Former Vice President of the Constitutional Court Kadri Kryeziu maintains his position that the decree of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani on dissolving the assembly was legal and legitimate, adding that there will be “political maneuvering” in the coming period and that elections are the only solution to the current situation.
After the Constitutional Court decided that President Vjosa Osmani’s decree on dissolving the assembly “produces no legal effect” and that MPs have a deadline of 34 days from the entry into force of the ruling to complete the process of electing the President of Kosovo, Kryeziu says that there will continue to be “political maneuvering” in the coming period.
“In my opinion, Osmani’s decree was legal and legitimate,” Kryeziu told Kosovo Online.
He points out that he is not sure whether Self-Determination will have new candidates for president, and that a compromise among political parties is necessary.
“I am not sure whether Self-Determination has new candidates. In any case, new candidates should be put forward, for the sake of compromise among political parties,” he said.
He notes that elections are the only solution.
“In the next 34 days, there will be maneuvering, ‘push and pull’. Only elections are the solution and the way out of this situation,” Kryeziu concluded.
According to the Constitutional Court’s decision, if a new president is not elected even after the additional 34-day deadline, the Assembly of Kosovo will be automatically dissolved and, consequently, early parliamentary elections must be held within 45 days from the dissolution of parliament.
